    Common Crimes Out There

Below are just a few of the common and frequent crimes that have been recorded over time.

    Robbery

This is a crime against property. This is taking or attempting to take the property of another by force. In so doing, there are times that the owner may be subjected to bodily harm if they resist the robbers’ intentions.

    Vandalism

This involves maliciously destroying another’s personal property. Usually, such crimes are not reported to the police. Losses may seem not to amount so much, yet the hidden costs have a bigger impact as the need for special lighting, surveillance, fencing or guards will become necessary.

    Theft

Still a crime against property – and is similar to robbery but without the use of violence or force.

    Residential Burglary

This involves the criminal’s unlawful entry of one’s residence to commit petty theft, grand theft or felony.

    Murder and Manslaughter

Murder involves the killing of another person with malice. Hatred, revenge and anger are motivations of the killing. Manslaughter is the killing of another person without the malice. Such is voluntary manslaughter wherein killing the other person is sudden after a great provocation.

    Assault and Battery

This includes those that involve a simple push, a slap and a punch. Spitting and biting are also included here. Assault and battery may be carried out with a weapon or object to hurt the victim. Mayhem is one that causes mutilation on the victim and carries a higher penalty.

    Kidnapping

This involves the confinement of another person against his will. Usually, this are directed to children – but is not confined to them alone. It could also be directed towards older women or men. Ransom also comes into the picture in such cases.

    Sexual Assault

This involves touching of another person’s body without their consent. Penetration of the victim by any means is also covered in this crime. This usually happens to women than to men.
