Indoor Swimming Pool --- Its Pros And Cons

People --- children and adult alike enjoy having fun and getting fit through swimming. Some love to go to the beach, others prefer the pools, but one thing for sure, they love swimming. However, there are times and days that weather won't allow swimmers to enjoy the warm and cool waters of the sea and the pool --- it may be too cold or too hot, thus endangering one's health conditions. This is why, to let them enjoy some hours of swimming fun, indoor swimming pools are installed. This way, people can still play in the water, and swimmers can still do their practice and training no matter what the outside weather or temperature is. With indoor swimming pools, people get the chance to swim the whole year round.

Indoor swimming pools give swimmers a controlled atmosphere --- protects them from the harmful rays of the sun or the heavy pouring of the rain, and safeguards them from unwanted objects, debris, and other substances. With indoor swimming pools, it gives easy accessibility to equipments, rooms, lockers, etc. However, despite these benefits, there are also things that swimmers would miss --- just being outdoors --- feeling the breeze and the air, while playing and swimming in the pool. Also, another disadvantage of having indoor swimming pools is humidity --- the water (in gaseous state or water vapor) above the pool --- can destroy the facilities. The moisture penetrates through the wall, thus damaging the paint, wood, and the interiors of the wall and ceiling because of the bacteria that grow in it. To control such humidity, indoor swimming pools must be dehumidified through installation of an air conditioner or dehumidifier, but this can be very expensive.

One solution to the humidity problem of indoor swimming pools is by designing a dome-shaped pool wall-ceiling area, because of the materials used. The shell-wall or shell-ceiling of the dome keeps the moisture from seeping inside, thus protecting it from bacteria growth and decay. Because of its shape, there's no need for interior posts, so no hassle of worrying about decomposing columns inside the area. Having a dome pool facility, would surely benefit the pool owners and swimmers because this is constructed in such a way that the dome materials don't absorb water.

With indoor swimming pools, people can have regular laps-swimming or underwater exercises with a regulated condition, but it is also equally important to have proper ventilation for the safety of the people and the protection of the facility.
